Description
Tests are available in Nandyal only.
Sample Required:
For this test, no blood samples are required. Ultrasound imaging, also known as ultrasonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of the body.
Test Time:
The test time for ULTRASONOGRAPHY – PVR can vary but typically takes around 15 to 30 minutes to complete.
Test Normal Range:
Ultrasound tests, including PVR (Post-Void Residual) measurements, do not have traditional “normal ranges” like blood tests. Instead, they provide images and measurements that healthcare providers use to assess various aspects of your internal organs.
What is the test?
ULTRASONOGRAPHY – PVR (Post-Void Residual): This is an ultrasound examination of the urinary bladder and its contents after the patient has voided (emptied their bladder) and then measures the amount of urine left in the bladder. It’s used to evaluate bladder function and to check for issues like urinary retention.
Test Procedure:
During the procedure, you will be asked to empty your bladder completely (void urine). Afterward, a trained sonographer will use a handheld ultrasound device (transducer) on your lower abdomen to obtain images of your bladder and measure the remaining urine volume.
When to take the test:
ULTRASONOGRAPHY – PVR is typically performed when a healthcare provider suspects urinary problems, such as difficulty emptying the bladder completely or frequent urinary tract infections.
Who should take this test?
This test is recommended for individuals with symptoms related to bladder function, including urinary retention, recurrent urinary tract infections, or urinary incontinence.
Precautions for exceptional cases (pregnancy, etc.):
If you are pregnant, it’s important to inform your healthcare provider and the sonographer before the test. Special precautions may be necessary in such cases.
